Gym Rat

Yesterday I met Ryan in the gym for my second BMD session (biomechanics).  I really enjoyed this hour long session, more than our first meeting. It was all so new I had so much to remember!  But I have done my homework well enough apparently, so Ryan moved me to phase 2 of the exercises I am to begin doing daily.  I am always given a slate of neurological exercises to do three to five times each day.  Following completion of those a series of physical ones.  These are executed slowly and are to supplement the work I have done in each of the body work sessions at the Garage.  Clearly the main issue/problem I have is on my left side (or at least that is where it is manifested). My left trapezius muscle has been carrying a big burden of compensation for my over all postural mechanics.  More specifically, a portion of the muscle seems to.  I've described a spot on my back underneath my left scapula as my "burning hole" for decades - when it's tight it literally feels like a gnarly knot of scar tissue that just burns. (I throw gnarly in there because it seems like such a good descriptor when you are in California..) The exercises Ryan gave me help seat my shoulder as I move my arms, and some of the others inspire my mid back to move and increase in flexibility.

Ryan talks fast.  Thank goodness he wrote out the list and took videos like the one here.  What I'm doing here is particularly challenging in that you have to keep the rib cage down - you can't open the chest up as the arms go up.

Lots to work on, but I like it!  I am eager to get back to NC and work these into my day.
