Since I last posted in mid-January, Glenn and I have been to Vietnam and Cambodia and back. Although a fascinating trip, we were not as physically active as on other trips we have taken. And oh my the plane travel! I know the world can seem so small sometimes, but when your butt is parked for 24+ hours in an airplane seat, getting around the world is quite the journey and the distances seem so very long!
After one week at home, I'm back in LA
for my next series of sessions at Human Garage. I was very much looking forward to being here again, but now that I'm here I find myself struggling. I have recommended this place to many people as it has generally good energy and provides an opportunity for one to explore many facets of health, well-being, and mind/body alignment. I find I am drawn more towards the components of energy work rather than the physical manipulations of body work. Perhaps I'm just tired of traveling, and am questioning this whole enterprise and investment. I'll re-evaluate my attitude in a day or two.
I arrived in LA in the morning, got my car and settled into my AirBnB, then headed over for my 2:00pm session with Matt. He asked me about any specific issues I might be having and how I felt over all. I walked a few laps and then got on the table. Matt's work was much more gentle and area specific. He first used some kind of vibration gizmo and basically gave my body a full once over. After that he just worked on specific deep pressure release points. In spite of the session being much less physically painful than prior visits, I still felt a little unsteady as I got up to do my laps. I didn't notice as much of a change this time - maybe that means that my body has been able to sustain prior adjustments. I guess we'll see. After my session with Matt I had a Chiro adjustment and I was on my way.
I wasn't loving my AirBnB. It was cute enough, but a little too bohemian and the furnishings were all a bit tired. I didn't feel the place had very good energy overall. And, when I discovered there was no television for me (even though it was listed in the amenities) I wasn't sure I could handle being there a week. My intention has been to work on this big needlepoint project I shlepped across the country while catching up on movies. Thank goodness for AirBnB's Guest Refund Policy! I was able to exit, get a refund and move on.
So on to another location - much more industrial in feel and on a busy corner, but I'm much more content in this space. (Honestly, I wish I had just gone right back to the place I used the first time I came out in January. I thought I could do better, but it's been my favorite location for sure.)
While I was waiting to check in to my new digs, I headed over to the Bulletproof Coffee shop
in Santa Monica. I chose a nice spot in the sun to enjoy my coffee. A short while later I invited some folks to join me since there were 3 empty chairs and no open tables. Serendipity! I made a wonderful new friend and spent an hour talking to Vanessa Lambert, owner of https://beethewellness.com. What an interesting story she has! The business she owns with her husband offers all kinds of interesting services - the one most intriguing to me are the adventure trips! Check it out.
Day Two
Yesterday I headed over for an 8:00am appointment for what HG calls Fascia Flow. A new Brian (I had a different Bryan in January..) was the practitioner and was such an interesting person. Deeply metaphysical, he used a variety of modalities as he worked, including sound, aromatherapy, Chakra openings, deep tissue, and even recited some of his own poetry! It was all very pleasant and relaxing (mostly!). Brian was able to pinpoint an area of deep tension in my left trapezius that still needs to be addressed. As I told him, there is likely 40 years of baggage held right in that spot...I wish my body would let that go....
More later after my second biomechanics session with Ryan. I hope he's happy with how I have stuck with my homework these last 6 weeks.
